Welcome, Dr. Justin Casares!
Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic is excited to welcome Dr. Justin Casares to our team! He will practice large- and small-animal medicine and surgery.
Dr. Casares comes from a long history of working with animals – he was raised on a horse ranch, showed livestock across the state of Texas, and, in high school and college, worked at Mission Veterinary Hospital in his Rio Grande Valley hometown. After high school, Dr. Casares moved to Aggieland to attend Texas A&M University, where he received his bachelor’s degree in Animal Science in 2015.
During his undergrad years, he became involved with the Houston Livestock Show and Rodeo, which helped him develop a passion for livestock show medicine and herd health medicine.
He continued his education at Texas A&M, and while completing his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine, he became involved with the the San Antonio Livestock Show and Rodeo. He also worked alongside swine medicine experts at the Swine Medicine Education Center at Iowa State University, and with veterinarians on large-scale dairy and beef cattle operations across Oklahoma and Texas.
Dr. Casares obtained his DVM in 2018, then found a home with the Chisholm Trail Veterinary Clinic family! When he’s not helping the pets and livestock of Luling, Dr. Casares enjoys traveling to new places with his wife, Dr. Lauren Thompson, as well as hunting and fishing, spending time with his four dogs, and cheering on his beloved Aggies during football season.
If you see Dr. Casares, be sure to give him a warm welcome. To make an appointment with him, call us at 830-875-2456, or contact us online.
